Kantha is a form of embroidery which used to be practised by the rural women of West Bengal. The entire cloth is covered with running stitches, employing beautiful motifs of flowers, animals birds and geometrical shapes, as well as themes from everyday activities. The stitching on the cloth gives it a slight wrinkled, wavy effect. Contemporary Kantha is applied to a wider range of garments such as sarees, dupattas, shirt lengths for men and women, furnishing fabrics, mostly using cotton and silk.
This White Bangalore Silk is Kantha embroidered with multi coloured Bird motifs in the Pallu as well as the Border. The embroidered Border of this Saree progressively increases in width, starting from one end & finishing in the other, followed by the Pallu. The Pallu is fully embroidered with Bird motifs.
The Blouse Piece is plain with embroidery in the Sleeves.
