The traditional weavers from Birbhum in West Bengal had learnt the craft of weaving this fabric called as Khesh. It is named after the technique of weaving with shreds of old sarees, called "Khesh". Khesh is a type of cotton.
This is an exclusive piece of Kantha Embroidery done on finely woven Khesh Cotton. The fabric is soft & breathes well, thus making it a favourite summer wear.
Kantha Embroidery is a speciality of Bolpur-Shantiniketan regions of West Bengal. The Kantha work, characterized by the 'running stitch' is always done by hand, usually by women. The designs are usually very intricate. Since Kantha is an Embroidery form done only by hand, each Saree takes a minimum of 2-3 months to finish depending on the elaborateness of the designs.
