Cotton Kota is a fine fabric woven by the Cotton Weavers of West Bengal who with time has experimented with different variations of cotton, of which Cotton Kota is one. The fabric is fine, light weight & breathes well, thus making it a favourite summer wear.
Kantha Embroidery is a speciality of Bolpur-Shantiniketan regions of West Bengal. The Kantha work, characterized by the 'running stitch' is always done by hand, usually by women. The designs are usually very intricate. Since Kantha is an Embroidery form done only by hand, each Saree takes a minimum of 4-5 months to finish depending on the elaborateness of the designs.
